The Pravasi Welfare Kannur District Committee recently submitted a memorandum to Advocate Sunny Joseph-a Minister who is also an elected representative from Kannur district-requesting the State Government's urgent intervention in travel issues related to Kannur Airport.
The delegation that presented the memorandum included Najla Najib, the Pravasi Welfare State General Secretary; Saudhiq Uliyil, the Welfare Party Kannur District President; E.K. Mansoor, the Pravasi Welfare Kannur District Vice President; district leaders Iqbal Cheleri, Hashim K.L., and Adv. Ahmed Yaseen; along with Shakib Keleth, the General Secretary of Peravoor Constituency.
The demands made to the Minister included the need to end the discriminatory treatment faced by Gulf-bound passengers from airport officials, take exemplary action against those responsible, address the shortage of international services, prevent unannounced flight cancellations and schedule reductions, and curb the unchecked rise in ticket prices during peak seasons. Additionally, there were calls to enhance transportation facilities to the airport.
The delegation also handed over the "People's Charter of Expatriate Rights," prepared by the Pravasi Welfare State Committee after collecting information from the public. This document aims to consolidate the long-standing issues, needs, and rights of expatriates, along with clear recommendations for addressing these concerns to the government.
