Doha: Qatar
General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa) has launched its Summer
2026 awareness campaign under the slogan "Keep it Sustained," as part
of ongoing efforts to promote responsible consumption and reinforce
environmental sustainability principles in Qatari society.
The
campaign comes as summer brings a notable increase in electricity and water
consumption due to intensive air conditioning use, placing additional pressure
on the electricity network and increasing loads during peak hours. The campaign
aims to drive sustainable behavioural change by raising awareness about optimal
resource utilisation, contributing to network stability, and reducing carbon
emissions.
The
campaign is built around four main pillars: Electric Load Management (avoiding
high-load appliances during peak hours), Improving Building and Appliance
Efficiency (using high-efficiency appliances and smart systems), Conserving
Water Consumption and Air Conditioning Use (setting optimal AC temperatures and
adopting modern irrigation technologies), and Transition Towards Smart
Behaviour (leveraging smart solutions to monitor consumption).
The campaign will run for three months (June to August 2026) and includes community challenges, on-ground events, digital awareness campaigns, and partnerships with government and private sector entities. Key messages include avoiding high-load electrical appliances during peak hours (12pm to 6pm), using energy-efficient appliances, and promptly repairing water leaks.
