Doha: Karnataka Sangha Qatar (KSQ), a prominent associated organisation of the Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) functioning under the aegis of the Embassy of India, Doha, organised a grand Teachers’ Day Celebration at Ashoka Hall, Indian Cultural Centre (ICC), Doha. The programme was a heartfelt tribute to the teaching fraternity, school leaders and veteran educators, recognising their dedicated service and invaluable contribution to society.

The programme began with floral tributes to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, former President of India and eminent educationist. This was followed by a vibrant traditional welcome dance by KSQ children, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Karnataka.

KSQ General Secretary Mr. Sujith Kumar Hosdurga delivered the welcome address. KSQ President Mr. Subramanya Hebbagelu, in his presidential address, highlighted the organisation’s various initiatives and the important role played by educators in community building. He also expressed gratitude to the Indian expatriate fraternity in Qatar for its continued support.

The programme was graced by Chief Guests Mr. Sandeep Kumar, Charge d’Affaires and Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of India, Doha, Qatar, and Dr. Purushotham Bilimale, Chairman, Kannada Development Authority, Government of Karnataka. Guests of Honour included Dr. Abhilasha Panwar, Senior Education Specialist, Curriculum & Learning Resources Department, Ministry of Education & Higher Education, Qatar; Ms. Asna Nafees, Group Academic Director, DPS Group of Institutions; Mr. A. P. Manikantan, President, Indian Cultural Centre (ICC); Mr. Faisal Al-Dosari, Director, Choreographer and Music Mentor; and Ms. Maryam Ali Hayati, Sports and Karate Teacher.

Prominent school leaders present on the occasion included Mr. P. N. Baburajan, President, Bhavan’s Public School; Mr. Rocky Fernandes, President, DPS Monarch International School, Doha; and Mr. Sonny Varghese, Vice President, DPS-Modern Indian School, Doha. Their presence highlighted the strong participation and support of Qatar’s education community in the celebration.

Representatives from the Ministry of Interior, including Lt. Nasser Muhammad Al Musaifiri of the Community Policing Department, Lt. Hussain Qasim of the Juvenile Police Department, and Mr. Faisal Al Hudawi and Mr. Azizur Rahman of the Public Relations Department, also attended the programme.

Principals and representatives from leading schools in Qatar, including Al-Khor International School, Birla Public School, Bhavan’s Public School, Doha Modern Indian School, Rajagiri Public School, Brilliant International School, Noble International School, Shantiniketan Indian School, Scholars International School, Olive International School, Podar Pearl School, Greenwood International School, DPS Monarch International School, Loyola International School, DPS-Modern Indian School, MES Indian School, MESIS, Galileo International School and Ideal Indian School, were felicitated on the occasion.

A major highlight of the celebration was the felicitation of around 125 Karnataka-origin teachers serving in schools across Qatar. The teachers were honoured with Karnataka’s traditional shawl, a memento and a citation in recognition of their dedicated service to education and their contribution to shaping the future generation.

KSQ children presented a special musical tribute to the teaching fraternity, adding warmth and emotion to the celebrations. A captivating guitar performance by Mr. Faisal Al-Dosari also added further charm to the evening, making the celebration a memorable occasion for the educators and guests.

The dignitaries praised the efforts of Karnataka Sangha Qatar in preserving Kannada language, culture and traditions while promoting harmony and community bonding among Indians in Qatar. Dr. Purushotham Bilimale appreciated the Indian diaspora in Qatar for maintaining strong cultural roots while contributing positively to the host country. He emphasised that education is the foundation of community progress and lauded the contribution of teachers as well as the initiatives of Karnataka Sangha Qatar.

The event was attended by several prominent community leaders, including Mr. Deepak Shetty, General Secretary, ICBA; Mr. Sandeep Reddy, Karnataka Representative in the ICC Committee; KSQ Advisory Chairman Mr. Ravi Shetty; KSQ Advisors Mr. Arunkumar, Mr. H. K. Madhu and Dr. Sanjay Kudari; former ICC President Mrs. Milan Arun; and representatives from ICC, ICBF, ICBA and various Karnataka-based community organisations in Qatar.

The programme was professionally compered by Ms. Anshu Jain, international host, MC and media influencer. Mannai Home and Only Coffee extended their support to the programme. KSQ Vice President Mr. Anil Bhasagi proposed the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the dignitaries, school authorities, teachers, supporters, volunteers and members who contributed to the successful organisation of the celebration. The grand Teachers’ Day celebration concluded on a memorable note, celebrating the dedication of educators and reaffirming the commitment of Karnataka Sangha Qatar towards education, culture and community service.
