Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Transport Qatar has announced the gradual resumption of maritime navigation in the country, beginning with vessels licensed for fishing activities only. The decision will come into effect from Monday, March 30, 2026, as part of controlled measures to ensure safety and compliance.

According to the ministry, the resumption is limited to fishing vessels at this stage, with strict technical and operational requirements in place. Authorities emphasized that all vessels must be fully prepared and compliant before setting sail.

To ensure safe operations, the ministry has outlined key requirements for all fishing vessels:

  • Ensure vessel safety, readiness, and seaworthiness prior to departure
  • Carry and operate the Automatic Identification System (AIS) throughout the voyage
  • Maintain active use of VHF radio communication on Channel 16 during the entire trip
  • Strictly comply with the Maritime Vessels Law and all related regulations and decisions

The ministry has urged all concerned parties to strictly adhere to the issued circular, warning that failure to comply may result in legal consequences.
