Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Interior (MOI) has issued a public safety alert via SMS, urging motorists and school bus drivers to reduce speeds in residential areas and school zones. The notice coincides with the return of approximately 417,000 students to in-person classes today.
In
its official statement, the Ministry emphasized critical safety protocols for
the school commute, specifically urging drivers to eliminate all distractions
like notably mobile phone use while strictly adhering to speed limits in school
zones. Simultaneously, the Ministry called on students to do their part by
practicing safe boarding procedures and ensuring they only use designated
pedestrian crossings when navigating nearby roads.
These measures are part of a broader effort to ensure a secure environment for the community following a period of regional uncertainty.
