Doha: Aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 3 – Good Health and Well-Being, the M.E.S. Scouts & Guides Unit organised a Narcotics and Drugs Awareness Seminar to empower students with the knowledge to make informed choices, live healthy, and lead responsibly.
The event was graced by a distinguished delegation from the Qatar Scouts & Guides Association, comprising Mr. Ahmed Khamis Al-Yousef, Scout Activities Consultant; Ms. Muna Jumah Al Mansouri, Scout Activities Consultant; Ms. Paramjeet Kaur Bhullar, Official Trainer and Coordinator for Expatriate Schools; Ms. Sara Al-Sulthan, Scout Activities Consultant; and Ms. Bothaina Al-Kuwari, Media Expert. Their presence underscored the importance of collaborative efforts in promoting youth development and leadership.
Addressing the gathering, Principal Dr. Hameeda Kadar commended the student leaders for their dedicated efforts towards peer education and their commitment to community welfare. She emphasised the enduring values of personal responsibility, community service, and well-being, while reaffirming the school's commitment to empowering students to make healthy and informed choices.
The programme featured an impactful awareness video on the dangers of drug abuse, produced by Christiea S. Koshy (Grade 11). Awareness sessions were led by Aaron John Thomas (Grade 11), Mohammed Yasir (Grade 12), Akshay Tony (Grade 11), Jovitta Jabeesh (Grade 11), Minha P. Anas (Grade 11), Vaishnav and Shan (Grade 10), Aisha Azeen (Grade 9), Maryam and Aman Askar (Grade 8), and Ummusalma (Grade 7). The presentations addressed substance classification, physical and psychological health hazards, addiction dynamics, and preventive measures, equipping students with essential knowledge to make responsible choices.
The session concluded with a synthesis by Khaleelu Rahman (Grade 11), followed by a solemn Drug Prevention Pledge led by Joy Alix (Grade 12) and Trilok Linu (Grade 11), reaffirming students' commitment to informed, healthy, and responsible choices. Neha Farook (Grade 12) delivered the welcome address, while Christina Daniel (Grade 12) proposed the vote of thanks. The M.E.S. Scouts & Guides Unit coordinated the programme under the guidance of Guides In-Charge teachers Mr. Rajesh K. S., Ms. Blessy Peter, and Ms. Mary Diana.
