Mohamed Salah has been crowned the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) men’s player of the year for a record third time, after inspiring Liverpool to their 20th Premier League title last season. The Egyptian forward netted 29 goals and registered 18 assists, guiding the Reds to glory with four games to spare. Salah previously won the award in 2017/18 and 2021/22.
The
33-year-old star, who also picked up the Football Writers’ Association and
Premier League player of the year awards earlier this year, was joined in the
PFA Premier League team of the year by Liverpool teammates Virgil van Dijk,
Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister, and new signing Milos Kerkez. Arsenal’s
William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes and Declan Rice also featured, alongside
Nottingham Forest duo Matz Sels and Chris Wood, with Newcastle striker
Alexander Isak earning recognition after finishing runner-up in the Golden Boot
race.
In the women’s category, Arsenal’s Mariona Caldentey claimed the PFA player of the year award following a stellar debut season in England, where she scored 19 goals to help the Gunners lift the Champions League. Her teammate Olivia Smith, who joined Arsenal in a world-record £1 million move, was named women’s young player of the year after an impressive campaign at Liverpool. Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers scooped the men’s young player award.
