Doha: Nesto, one of the GCC’s leading retail groups, has officially entered the Qatari market with the opening of its first hypermarket in Al Gharrafa, Doha. The new outlet marks the group’s 152nd store worldwide and the beginning of an ambitious expansion programme that will see eight more outlets established across Qatar.
The
Al Gharrafa hypermarket was inaugurated by Chief Patron Mohammed bin Ahmed Al
Obaidli, Board Member of Qatar Chamber; Sheikh Hamad bin Thani Al Thani; and
Mohammed Mubarak Al-Ameri, Director of the Markets and Specialized Licensing
Department. The ceremony was attended by Western International Group Chairman
K.P. Basheer and Nesto Group Managing Director Jamal Kunhiparambath, along with
other dignitaries and business representatives.
Located
at the Old Passport Office Building in Al Gharrafa, the new hypermarket offers
customers a comprehensive shopping experience with a wide range of products
under one roof. Its product categories include fresh produce, food and
groceries, household essentials, fashion, electronics and lifestyle products.
The
new outlet is designed to serve Qatar’s diverse and growing consumer base by
combining product variety, competitive pricing and convenience. The company
said its retail model is focused on providing customers with quality products
and value while bringing a broad selection of everyday essentials closer to
residential communities.
Speaking
at the inauguration, Nesto Group Managing Director Jamal Kunhiparambath said
Qatar had been a highly anticipated destination in the group’s growth journey.
“Qatar has been a highly anticipated destination in Nesto’s growth journey, and
we are proud to finally bring the Nesto experience to customers here. Our 152nd
store represents much more than another milestone - it marks the beginning of a
long-term journey in Qatar,” he said.
Jamal Kunhiparambath
added that Nesto would continue to focus on building customer trust through
quality, choice and value, which he described as key pillars of the group’s
retail operations across the GCC. The company aims to establish a strong and
lasting relationship with consumers in Qatar by responding to their changing
shopping needs.
Nesto
confirmed that eight additional outlets are already in the pipeline as part of
its Qatar expansion strategy. The planned stores are expected to strengthen the
group’s presence across the country, while the expansion could also create new
employment opportunities and encourage partnerships with local suppliers and
businesses.
Nesto’s
entry into Qatar marks another significant step in its regional expansion, with
the Al Gharrafa outlet becoming the latest addition to its global network of
152 stores. The company said its continued investment in Qatar would focus on
offering wider product choices and competitive prices to communities while
contributing to the country’s dynamic and growing retail sector.
