Doha, Qatar: Pravasi Welfare has urged the central government to take urgent action to resolve the travel difficulties faced by expatriates in the Gulf region, especially as summer holidays are approaching.

The
demand was raised at the Pravasi Welfare Leadership Conference, which said the
unjustified increase in airline fares is seriously affecting expatriates who
wish to return home and reunite with their families after long periods abroad.
The conference noted that exploiting the right to travel of expatriates, whose
lives are already under pressure, is unacceptable.
The
meeting also demanded that airlines implement vouchers and refunds issued for
cancelled services without delay. It called for strong regulations to prevent
air passengers from being exploited and urged the Kerala government to pressure
the Centre and raise the concerns of expatriates effectively.
Pravasi Welfare State President R Chandramohan inaugurated the leadership meeting. Vice President Ahmed Shafi presented the policy programmes for the new term. Vice Presidents Anees Mala and Anwar Hussain led the training programme for newly elected office bearers. General Secretary Sharafudheen C welcomed the gathering. Secretary Nihas Eriyad, Nadumuttam President Sana Naseem and others spoke.
