Qatar strongly condemns Iranian attack targeting Emirati tanker belonging to ADNOC in Strait of Hormuz

Doha, Qatar: The State of Qatar has strongly condemned the recent Iranian attack on an Emirati tanker owned by ADNOC as it transited the Strait of Hormuz.

Qatar described the incident as a blatant violation of international law and freedom of navigation, as well as a breach of UN Security Council Resolution 2817.

In an official statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized Qatar's firm rejection of using the Strait of Hormuz as a geopolitical pressure point. The ministry called for the immediate and unconditional reopening of this critical maritime corridor.

Highlighting the importance of freedom of navigation as a fundamental principle, the statement warned that the continued closure of the strait poses significant risks to regional interests and the global economy. Qatar also urged an end to Iranian attacks on the assets of neighboring countries and expressed full solidarity with the United Arab Emirates, supporting all measures it takes to protect its property.
