The United States is beginning to redeploy personnel to several diplomatic missions in the Middle East that were previously evacuated or downsized due to heightened tensions with Iran, according to sources familiar with the situation.
Diplomatic posts in Lebanon, Israel, Saudi Arabia, and Baghdad, Iraq, are among those set to see staff return, the sources told Reuters. Additionally, family members will be allowed to rejoin the U.S. post in Riyadh.
This development indicates that Washington perceives a reduced risk of escalation in the conflict with Iran in the immediate future. However, it is noted that some embassies will initially resume operations at reduced capacity, operating at no more than 85% of authorized personnel levels.
