Major smuggling attempt foiled at Hamad International Airport: 120 pieces of rhino horns and ivory confiscated

Doha, Qatar: Authorities have confiscated a staggering 120 pieces of rhino horns and ivory from a traveler at Hamad International Airport. The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, in collaboration with relevant authorities, successfully intercepted the smuggling attempt, seizing a total of 45.29 kilograms of contraband.


According to a statement, the Ministry said: "The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, in cooperation with the relevant authorities, confiscated 120 pieces of rhino horns and ivory weighing 45.26 kilograms, after a traveler attempted to smuggle them through Hamad International Airport without permits."


It added, "The Ministry called on everyone to comply with the law on trading in endangered wildlife species, emphasizing the necessity of carrying permits when bringing in any protected species under the CITES agreement.”
