Doha: CNN is set to expand its presence in the Middle East with the launch of a new operation in Qatar, based in Media City Qatar, a leading hub for global media and technology companies. Expected to go live in the second half of 2025, this expansion aligns with CNN’s broader strategy to enhance its global and regional content creation capabilities. The new team will produce digital and social media content while also launching an innovative weekly show for CNN International.

Chairman of Media City Qatar, HE Sheikh Dr. Abdulla bin Ali bin Saud Al-Thani, welcomed CNN’s expansion, emphasizing Qatar’s growing role in shaping global media conversations. The initiative will also strengthen CNN’s coverage of critical topics such as geopolitics, business, technology, and culture, while offering journalism and production training for young professionals in Qatar.

CNN executives highlighted the move as a commitment to deepening regional reporting and innovation. Executive Vice President Mike McCarthy stated that the new operation will enhance CNN’s ability to tell a wider range of stories, while Phil Nelson, Executive Vice President of CNN International Commercial, affirmed that the expansion would bolster CNN’s trusted global news coverage from the Middle East.
