Doha, Qatar: The Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) has been nominated for the title of the Most Significant Building of the 21st Century by the renowned architecture and design magazine Dezeen. This nomination comes as part of the magazine's series, "21st-Century Architecture: 25 Years 25 Buildings," which highlights a notable architectural masterpiece from each year over the past quarter-century.
Dezeen has invited its readers to participate in the voting process, which is now open on the magazine's official website. The MIA stands alongside other iconic structures, including the Tate Modern by Herzog & de Meuron, Moriyama House by Ryue Nishizawa, Walt Disney Concert Hall by Frank Gehry, Burj Khalifa by SOM, and Bosco Verticale by Stefano Boeri, among others.
Originally designed by the acclaimed architect IM Pei, the Museum of Islamic Art was recognized as the most significant building in 2008 by Dezeen and was hailed as the first "mega-museum in the Gulf." As the competition heats up, all eyes are on Dezeen as they prepare to announce the winner later this year.
