Doha, Qatar: Prime Minister and Minister
of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani
lauded HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani as a rare model of
leadership in today’s world during his address at the Tipperary International
Peace Award ceremony in Ireland. Speaking at the event, the Prime Minister
emphasized that the Amir leads not only with governance but with deep empathy
and unwavering dedication to both his people and global peace efforts. “He
grieves for every innocent life lost and believes peace is a legacy to be
preserved,” he said, adding that the Amir’s values continue to inspire him
personally and guide Qatar’s diplomatic approach.
Accepting the award on behalf of the State of
Qatar, HE Sheikh Mohammed reaffirmed that the honor reflects the country’s
consistent stance as a voice for peace and dialogue amid global unrest. He
highlighted that Qatar’s initiatives—from Gaza to Afghanistan—are not driven by
political convenience but by its national identity, faith, and leadership.
“Qatar acts not out of self-interest but out of moral responsibility,” he
noted, especially as the country faced a missile attack just a week ago.
Despite the aggression, Qatar responded with restraint and diplomacy,
prioritizing regional stability over retaliation.
The Prime Minister also addressed the ongoing crisis in Gaza, describing the humanitarian situation as “unbearable” and reaffirming the Amir’s commitment to providing aid and advocating for dignity and justice. Calling on the global community to choose peace over provocation, he urged the next generation to embrace reconciliation as a strength, not a weakness. “Peace is not a slogan, it is a duty,” he declared, concluding with a message of continued resolve and Qatar’s promise to remain a steadfast advocate for dialogue, unity, and international harmony.
