ICC felicitates Indian student teams for outstanding performance at Shell Eco-marathon 2026 in Doha

Doha: The Indian Cultural Centre (ICC), under the aegis of the Embassy of India in Qatar, organised a felicitation ceremony on January 27, 2026, at Ashoka Hall to honour five outstanding Indian student teams that represented India at the Shell Eco-marathon 2026, held at the Lusail International Circuit. The event celebrated innovation, sustainability, and technological excellence demonstrated by young Indian engineering students on a global platform.

The programme began with opening remarks by Mr. Rakesh Wagh, Head of HR and Consular, who described the occasion as a moment of national pride. He commended the participating teams for their ingenuity in designing energy-efficient vehicles and for contributing towards a sustainable and cleaner mobility future.

Delivering the presidential address, Mr. A. P. Manikantan, President of ICC, warmly welcomed the teams and expressed immense pride in hosting the young innovators. He described them as “the future of India — the next generation of great engineers, CEOs, scientists, and leaders,” and lauded their dedication, creativity, and perseverance in representing the nation with distinction on the international stage.

The felicitation ceremony honoured the following five teams for their remarkable participation and achievements:

1.    Team Follium Eco Drive – College of Engineering, Trivandrum, Kerala

2.    Team Pravega – Government Engineering College, Barton Hill, Trivandrum

3.    Team ETA & Yugant – K. J. Somaiya School of Engineering, Mumbai

4.    Team Kaizen – Pandit Deendayal Energy University, Gandhinagar

5.    Team Renew – Kumaraguru College of Technology, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu

The felicitation was led by Mr. A. P. Manikantan along with members of the ICC Managing Committee and Mr. Muniyappan, President of QTS. Each team leader made an engaging presentation on their prototype design car, sharing insights into the design and build process as well as their vehicle’s performance during the four-lap challenge at the Lusail Circuit. The event concluded on a high note with interactive discussions and appreciation for the student innovators who made India proud on the international stage.
