Learn Arabic for free through Awqaf Ministry’s ‘Takalam’ platform: Registration guide

Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has launched a free Arabic language learning initiative through its digital platform ‘Takalam’, offering structured online courses for learners in Qatar and across the world.

Available via the ministry’s official website and a dedicated mobile application, the programme is designed for beginner to intermediate-level learners, helping users develop practical skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking Arabic.

The initiative primarily targets non-Arabic speakers seeking everyday communication skills, cultural understanding, or a foundation for Islamic studies. It is also ideal for visitors, professionals, and media workers looking to acquire functional Arabic for travel, business, or professional use.

Arabic is the official language of more than 20 countries and ranks among the most widely spoken native languages globally. However, many aspiring learners cite time constraints, high course fees, and difficulty attending physical classes as major barriers to consistent learning.

The Takalam platform addresses these challenges by offering flexible, self-paced learning completely free of charge.

Structured learning across seven levels

Takalam features a comprehensive curriculum divided into seven progressive levels, with each level comprising 20 lessons. The lessons combine instructional videos with interactive exercises that strengthen vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar, and writing skills.

Learners can stream lessons online or download them for offline access, enabling study at their own convenience and pace.

How to register

1.    Create a free account on the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs website or download the Takalam mobile application.

2.    Go to the Education section and select the Takalam programme.

In-Person courses also available

In addition to the digital platform, the ministry also conducts free in-person Arabic language courses for non-Arabic speakers. These include regular and intensive programmes, with schedules announced through the ministry’s official website and social media channels.

This initiative is part of Qatar’s broader efforts to promote Arabic language learning and cultural understanding, reflecting the nation’s diverse population and its commitment to inclusive and accessible education for all nationalities.
