Doha: The Embassy of India, in association with the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) and the Indian Business & Professionals Council (IBPC), organised a roadshow on January 27, 2026, to promote India’s iconic luxury tourist trains - Maharajas’ Express and Golden Chariot. The event was held as part of the celebrations marking India’s National Tourism Day.

The roadshow aimed to highlight India’s premium rail tourism offerings, showcasing the country’s rich cultural heritage, royal legacy, and world-class hospitality through its award-winning luxury train journeys. The initiative was designed to introduce Qatari travel stakeholders to unique high-end travel experiences available in India.

Addressing the gathering, the Ambassador of India to Qatar, H.E. Mr. Vipul, underscored the significance of National Tourism Day in promoting sustainable and high-value tourism. He highlighted India’s growing appeal as a luxury tourism destination and noted that the Maharajas’ Express and Golden Chariot combine heritage, comfort, and carefully curated travel across some of India’s most celebrated destinations.

Ms. Promila Gupta, Group General Manager of IRCTC, made a detailed presentation on the itineraries, onboard facilities, service standards, and distinctive features of both luxury trains. She provided insights into the routes covered, thematic journeys, and the immersive cultural experiences offered to international travellers.
The roadshow was attended by leading tour
operators, travel and tourism professionals, and social media influencers, who
expressed keen interest in promoting India’s luxury rail tourism offerings
among discerning travellers from Qatar and the wider region. The event also
offered an effective platform for networking and interaction, reinforcing
India’s position as a premier destination for luxury and experiential tourism.
