Abu Dhabi: Qatar reaffirmed its strong commitment to supporting women in conflict-affected areas through education, training, and capacity building during the Second Women Parliamentary Forum of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM), held in Abu Dhabi. The Shura Council was represented by Deputy Speaker Dr. Hamda bint Hassan Al Sulaiti and member Amina bint Youssef Al Jaidah.

Addressing
the forum, Dr. Hamda highlighted that empowering women is central to preventing
violent extremism, stressing Qatar’s focus on education, skills development,
and promoting a culture of peace and justice. She underlined Qatar’s experience
in women’s empowerment aligned with Qatar National Vision 2030, noting high
female participation in education, growing involvement in STEM fields,
comprehensive health services, and active engagement in environmental
sustainability initiatives.
She
also drew attention to the severe humanitarian challenges faced by women in
conflict zones, particularly Palestinian women in Gaza, calling for urgent
international action to protect their rights to education, health, and
dignified living. Meanwhile, Al Jaidah emphasized Qatar’s comprehensive,
community-based approach to countering extremism, highlighting the vital role
of women in policymaking, awareness programs, and fostering social cohesion to
ensure long-term stability and peace. (QNA)
