Doha: Qatar’s Ministry of Interior has issued new
guidelines to help employees respond safely if an evacuation is required at
workplaces.
The ministry advised workers to remain calm and
immediately stop their activities once an evacuation alert is announced.
Employees should follow instructions provided through the national alert system
or by safety officials and leave the building using designated emergency exits.
Officials also reminded workers not to delay
evacuation by collecting personal belongings. People were encouraged to assist
colleagues, visitors, elderly individuals and persons with disabilities while
leaving the premises.
During an evacuation, stairways should be used
instead of elevators, and employees should move carefully without pushing or
running. If smoke is present, individuals are advised to stay low while moving
toward the exit.
After leaving the building, everyone should gather
at the assigned assembly point and wait for further instructions. Authorities
also stressed that people should not return to the building until emergency
teams confirm it is safe.
