At least 547 people have been killed and more than 977 remain missing in devastating floods in Nepal, with Chinese state media reporting additional casualties on the Tibet side. More than 14,000 security personnel are involved in rescue operations, while around 3,742 people have been rescued.

The disaster, described as Nepal’s deadliest since the 2015 earthquake, was triggered by a glacial collapse and massive debris flow.

Meanwhile, India’s Ministry of External Affairs said 180 Indian nationals have been safely evacuated, while around 320 Indians and 100 people of Indian origin remain uncontactable. Rescue operations are continuing amid fresh alerts over flooding and unstable debris dams.
