Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala's anti-narcotics drive, Operation Toofan, has crossed a major milestone with more than 10,015 arrests recorded so far, Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala announced. Authorities have registered 9,280 cases and seized 1,004 kg of cannabis along with 8.28 kg of MDMA in the ongoing crackdown. On average, police are arresting six persons every hour across the state under the operation, the minister said, highlighting the intensity and scale of the drive.
Chennithala
said the operation has led to a noticeable drop in the availability of
narcotics in Kerala, calling it a model for the rest of the country. He
credited the success to the joint efforts of the public and police, describing
their united stand as a powerful example of collective action against the drug
menace.
With Onam celebrations approaching, the minister assured that authorities will not allow the festive season to become a cover for drug trafficking. He said the special Toofan drive will be intensified further to keep the state safe during Onam, reaffirming the government's commitment to continuing the fight against drugs without compromise.
