The death toll in Mumbai has climbed to six, with four individuals injured after a landslide struck the Kurla area in the early hours of Wednesday morning following heavy rainfall, officials reported. Rescue efforts are currently in progress, involving personnel from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and other agencies at the scene.
The incident occurred around 3 AM, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police Ganesh Shinde, who noted that four to five people are feared trapped. "Due to the rain, a landslide has occurred in the Ashoknagar area under the jurisdiction of the Ghatkopar police. Two bodies have been recovered so far, and rescue operations are underway. Police personnel are deployed here, along with all the necessary teams for the rescue operation-including officials from the BMC, NDRF, and other agencies," Shinde informed news agency ANI.
