Ambassador Dr. K. Srikar Reddy highlights vast potential for Qatar-India strategic partnership

Newly appointed Ambassador of India to Qatar H E Dr. K. Srikar Reddy has pledged to work closely with the Indian community to further strengthen the strategic partnership between Qatar and India. Addressing a community reception at ICC Ashoka Hall, he described the Indian community as a “living bridge” between the two countries.

Dr. Reddy highlighted the growing partnership in trade, investment, energy, healthcare, education, culture and tourism. He said the relationship, rooted in longstanding civilisational and people-to-people ties, was elevated to a strategic partnership during Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani’s visit to India last year.

The Ambassador announced an increase in daily appointment slots for passport and police clearance certificate services. Slots at ICC will rise from 100 to 150 per day, while ICBF slots will increase from 60 to 100, with evening, weekend and holiday timings also available.

He said the Embassy would prioritise efficient consular services and the welfare of the more than 830,000-strong Indian community, particularly vulnerable sections and blue-collar workers. He also highlighted opportunities for cooperation in renewable energy, green hydrogen, digital infrastructure, artificial intelligence, biotechnology and space.

ICC President A.P. Manikantan, ICBF President Shanavas T. Bava, ISC President E.P. Abdurrahman and IBPC President Thaha Muhammed welcomed the Ambassador and expressed their readiness to work closely with him. Dr. Reddy also thanked the Qatari leadership and people for their support and praised outgoing Deputy Chief of Mission Sandeep Kumar for his contributions to bilateral relations.
