Ashghal installs over 4,000 debris traps to boost performance and operational capacity of stormwater drainage network

Doha, Qatar: The Public Works Authority, Ashghal, has announced the installation of 4,061 debris traps to enhance the performance and operational capacity of stormwater drainage network in Qatar. This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to improve the management and maintenance efficiency of the country's infrastructure assets.

The installation is a component of routine maintenance aimed at safeguarding the drainage network. By capturing sand, leaves, and waste, these traps help prevent underground pipe blockages and reduce the risk of water accumulation and flooding during heavy rainfall.

In a social media post, the Authority highlighted that the debris traps are designed for easy removal and cleaning without the need for specialized equipment, promoting sustainable maintenance and ensuring the continuous operational efficiency of the drainage infrastructure.

Ashghal emphasized that these efforts are part of a broader strategy to maintain infrastructure efficiency and sustain public utility assets across the country, while ensuring the stormwater drainage network's performance is protected.
