Assembly election verdict reflects Kerala’s secular vigilance - Pravasi Welfare reacts

Doha: The Pravasi Welfare leadership has said that the recent Assembly election results stand as a strong testament to Kerala’s enduring commitment to secularism and social harmony. According to the organisation, the verdict sends a clear message against forces attempting to create social polarization and weaken the democratic fabric that the state has carefully preserved over the years.

The leadership stated that the outcome serves as a lesson to divisive elements that seek to exploit differences based on caste and religion for political gain. It also pointed out that repeated communal statements and actions have contributed to tensions within society, and the public response through the ballot reflects a firm rejection of such approaches. The emergence of the Sangh Parivar in a few constituencies, including three seats, was cited as a matter requiring continued vigilance from socio-political movements.

Criticising the previous administration, the organisation alleged that governance over the past decade has failed to address key concerns of the people across sectors such as home affairs, education, health, and industry. It described the period as one marked by collective shortcomings on the part of the ministers, which, according to them, contributed to public dissatisfaction reflected in the election outcome.

Welcoming the victory of the UDF (United Democratic Front), the Pravasi Welfare leadership emphasised that the incoming government carries a significant responsibility to uphold the trust placed in it by the people. It urged the new administration to prioritise restoring social harmony, addressing the damage caused to the state’s social fabric, and ensuring justice and equal rights for marginalized communities. The organisation expressed hope that the new government will act decisively to strengthen democratic values and deliver inclusive governance for all sections of society.
