Bahrain intercepts Iranian drones as IRGC claims attacks on US assets across the Gulf

Manama: Bahrain's Armed Forces confirmed on Wednesday that the kingdom had intercepted and destroyed a number of Iranian aerial attacks, as Iran continues its "systematic hostile approach through its heinous attacks targeting civilians in Bahrain."

The military affirmed that all weapons systems and units are at the highest level of readiness and fully prepared to carry out their defensive duties. It urged everyone to exercise caution, avoid approaching any unfamiliar or suspicious objects resulting from the remnants of the attack, and report them immediately. Personnel from the Royal Field Engineering Unit are fully prepared to safely and professionally deal with such objects to ensure the safety of all citizens and residents.

The attacks came as part of a broader escalation, with Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claiming attacks on US assets in Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan, and Iraq's Erbil in overnight strikes. Bahrain's Ministry of Interior issued a fresh threat alert, urging citizens and residents to remain calm, proceed to the nearest safe location, and follow news through official channels.

The overnight exchange marked the first serious combat since July, ending a period in which the warring parties had withheld fire. Kuwait also reported activating its air defences in response to hostile missiles and drones, while Jordan said its air defence systems intercepted 13 ballistic missiles.
