Iran has accused the United States of carrying out an airstrike on a house during a wedding celebration in Kuhestak, in the southern county of Sirik, killing at least five people, including a child.
Iranian
officials said the attack, which took place early Wednesday, left 63 people
wounded, with women and children making up around 50 of the casualties. The
wounded were taken to a hospital in nearby Minab and were reported to be in
stable condition.
Footage
released by the Iranian Red Crescent showed a damaged building with debris
scattered around the site, while several children were seen receiving treatment
at a hospital.
A child who survived the blast told Iranian media that fighter jets were heard before the explosion. He said the blast was intense and that bricks, stones and cement struck people at the scene, stressing that those present were ordinary civilians.
