Doha:
The 4th GCC Games Doha 2026 will officially open today at Al Shaqab Arena,
bringing together more than 1,000 athletes from the six Gulf Cooperation
Council countries. The Games, which will continue until May 22, will feature
competitions in 17 sports disciplines across various venues in Doha.
The
opening ceremony is expected to witness the presence of senior officials,
National Olympic Committee representatives, and sports delegations from across
the Gulf region. The event will also feature artistic and cultural
performances, including the operetta titled “One Gulf, One Heart,” celebrating
Gulf unity and shared identity.
Athletes
will compete in events including athletics, swimming, handball, volleyball,
fencing, boxing, taekwondo, karate, shooting, archery, bowling, padel,
equestrian, table tennis, billiards, snooker, and 3x3 basketball. Competitions
will be hosted at major sporting venues including Aspire Dome, Hamad Aquatic
Centre, Lusail Shooting Range, and Al Gharafa Sports Club.
