Doha: The
Doha Film Institute has officially opened film submissions for the 2026 edition
of the Doha Film Festival, inviting filmmakers worldwide to showcase their work
in a celebration of bold storytelling and cinematic excellence. The festival is
scheduled to take place from November 19 to 27, 2026, under the theme of
fostering dialogue, reflection, and connection through cinema.
Submissions opened on May 10 and are
currently accepting short films across three categories: Made in Qatar, the
International Short Film Competition, and the Ajyal Film Competition (shorts
category). The International Short Film Competition and Ajyal Short Film
Competition have a submission deadline of August 1, 2026, while the Made in
Qatar category closes on September 1, 2026. Filmmakers can submit entries
through the official DFI platform at www.dohafilm.com.
The Ajyal Film Competition remains a flagship initiative dedicated to young audiences and youth-focused storytelling, while the Made in Qatar section highlights local productions, providing a platform for Qatari voices on the global stage. DFI has played a pivotal role in supporting filmmakers through grants, training programmes, and high-profile events, helping position Doha as a rising hub for Arab and international cinema.
