Doha: Shell Qatar, in collaboration with the
Ministry of Interior's North Security Department, organised an awareness event
for workers as part of International Workers' Day 2026 celebrations. The event,
held in Al Khor, witnessed the participation of over 470 workers from 14 major
companies operating in Qatar's northern region.
Specialised departments from the Ministry of
Interior and the private sector presented lectures on pedestrian traffic
safety, drug prevention, enhancing mental and psychological well-being of
workers, and cultural integration through introducing Qatari customs and
traditions. The Human Rights Department conducted a presentation on workers'
rights and responsibilities and how to enroot the principles of human rights.
The programme also included a cultural and safety awareness competition,
concluding with an awards ceremony.
Colonel Ahmed Saad Al-Muhannadi from the
North Security Department said the event reflects integration between security
and community aspects, contributing to enhancing worker awareness and
preventing crime. Eng. Hussain Al-Hajji, General Manager of Public Relations at
Shell Qatar, said the "BEDAR" community awareness events reflect
Shell's commitment to empowering communities and improving workers' quality of life.
Organisers emphasised that the event embodies community partnership and institutional integration, promoting health, safety, and social awareness. The BEDAR initiative is one of Shell Qatar's key community programmes in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior, aimed at integrating workers into national and community events and supporting social sustainability in Qatar.
