Doha: Engineers Forum Qatar celebrated Engineers’ Day 2026 at Al Messila Ballroom, Doha, under the theme “Engineered Urban Life: Smart, Sustainable, Human.” The programme brought together engineers, professionals, community leaders and distinguished guests to discuss the future of urban development and the role of engineering in creating smarter and more sustainable cities.

The event was inaugurated by His Excellency Dr K. Srikar Reddy, Ambassador of India to the State of Qatar. During the ceremony, the Ambassador formally launched three major initiatives of Engineers Forum Qatar — EF Business Network (EFBN), a platform connecting business owners and professionals within the EF community; EF Elevate, a series of professional, cultural, technical and community programmes marking the Forum’s 25th anniversary; and the EF Digitisation Platform, aimed at strengthening member engagement, organisational efficiency and digital connectivity.

The programme began with a welcome address by Mr Nidhin Otheni, General Secretary of Engineers Forum Qatar. Eng. Ashiq Ahmed, President of Engineers Forum Qatar, delivered the presidential address, highlighting the organisation’s journey, its contributions to the engineering community and its vision for the future.

Mr Thaha Mohammed, President of the Indian Business and Professionals Council (IBPC), delivered the felicitation address and highlighted the role of professional organisations in strengthening community engagement and contributing to India-Qatar relations. Senior member Mr Satish Pillai also joined the Ambassador in felicitating distinguished dignitaries and sponsors in recognition of their support and contributions.

The event featured a series of technical sessions addressing key aspects of urban development. Eng. Mukthar Mansour, Chief Enterprise Architect at MEEZA, spoke on Urban Technology Systems, while Mr Moen Azmi, Executive Director of Arab Engineering Bureau, addressed Urban Mobility. Dr Madhavi Indraganti, Associate Professor at Qatar University, presented on Architecture and Design, while Mr Mohammed Najjar, Head of Architectural Group at GSAS Trust, spoke on Sustainability.

The sessions provided perspectives on how technology, mobility, architecture, design and sustainability can work together to create smarter, more inclusive and human-centred urban environments. The discussions reflected the event’s broader focus on engineering solutions that balance technological advancement with sustainability and quality of life.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Eng. Prashanth Mathew, Technical Secretary of Engineers Forum Qatar. The Forum expressed its appreciation to Ambassador Dr K. Srikar Reddy, the guests, speakers, partners, sponsors and members for their support. The celebration also marked an important milestone as Engineers Forum Qatar commemorates its 25th anniversary and begins a new phase of its institutional journey.
