Doha: Reinforcing its commitment to community welfare, the Indian Community Benevolent Forum (ICBF), in collaboration with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), successfully organised its second consecutive blood platelet donation camp at the Qatar National Blood Donation Center. The initiative aimed to raise awareness about the critical importance of platelet donation and encourage more volunteers to support this lifesaving cause.

Platelets play a vital role in the treatment of cancer patients, organ transplant recipients, individuals undergoing major surgeries, and those suffering from blood disorders and serious injuries. As platelets have a very short shelf life, regular donations are essential to ensure an adequate supply for patients in need. The campaign highlighted the invaluable contribution of voluntary donors in strengthening Qatar's healthcare system.

More than 60 volunteers from different Indian states participated in the camp, reflecting the Indian community's strong spirit of humanitarian service. Their enthusiastic response underscored the growing awareness and commitment towards supporting lifesaving medical initiatives in Qatar.

Addressing the gathering, ICBF President Shanavas Bawa emphasised the significance of regularly organising platelet donation camps and praised the donors for their selfless contribution. General Secretary Deepak Shetty welcomed the participants, while Health Wing In-charge Mini Sibi delivered the vote of thanks. ICBF Advisory Council Chairman K. S. Prasad also attended the programme and commended the volunteers for their dedication.

The programme was coordinated by Secretary Jafar Thayil with the active support of Managing Committee members Mani Bharti, Neelambari S., Amar Veer Singh, Khaja Nizamuddin, Shankar Goud and Irfan Ansari. ICBF officials reaffirmed their commitment to continuing regular platelet donation campaigns in partnership with HMC to promote community health and save more lives across Qatar.
