Doha: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) has intensified surveillance inspections across commercial centers nationwide as part of its continued efforts to monitor markets and ensure suppliers’ compliance with approved laws and regulations, while safeguarding consumer rights.
In a statement issued on Monday, the ministry said the inspections included stationery outlets, focusing on the availability of products and the clarity of pricing. Inspectors also verified that shelf prices match those charged at point-of-sale systems, in addition to confirming the validity of promotional offers and discounts and the transparency of their terms and conditions.
The inspection campaign also covered restaurants,
retailers of children’s products, and consumer electronics stores to ensure
compliance with commercial laws, including accurate price declarations, valid
licenses, and the absence of counterfeit practices. MoCI stressed that periodic
and seasonal inspections will continue, warning that legal action will be taken
against violators in accordance with the Consumer Protection Law and its
executive regulations, and urged the public to report any suspected violations. (QNA)
