Doha, Qatar: The State of Qatar will participate as the Guest of Honour at the New Delhi World Book Fair 2026, scheduled to take place from January 10 to 18 in New Delhi, India. The Ministry of Culture said the participation reflects Qatar’s commitment to promoting its cultural and literary presence on the global stage.
The
ministry noted that the initiative aims to showcase Qatari intellectual and
literary production, while strengthening cultural exchange and cooperation with
international publishing houses and cultural institutions, reinforcing Qatar’s
role as a hub of cultural and civilisational dialogue.
As
part of its participation, Qatar will unveil a pavilion inspired by traditional
Qatari architecture, offering visitors an immersive cultural experience. The
booth will feature Qatari publications, heritage displays, and traditional
handicrafts, allowing visitors to explore the country’s rich cultural identity.
Director of
the Doha International Book Fair, Jassim Ahmed Al Buainain, said the selection
of Qatar as Guest of Honour highlights its growing cultural stature globally.
He added that the participation will include cultural programmes, lectures, and
performances by a Qatari folk troupe, further promoting Arab culture and
Qatar’s enduring heritage on an international platform.
