Doha,
Qatar: Qatar Airways has become the world’s first airline to equip a Boeing
787-8 with Starlink, further strengthening its leadership in next-generation
inflight connectivity. The airline also confirmed the completion of its Airbus
A350 Starlink installation programme in December 2025, achieved within a
record-breaking eight months. With three Boeing 787 Dreamliners already
operating with Starlink, the carrier now has nearly 120 widebody aircraft
connected to the high-speed satellite service.
The
airline said it has executed the fastest and most ambitious Starlink widebody
rollout in global aviation history. Within just 14 months, Qatar Airways
successfully completed Starlink installations across its Boeing 777 and Airbus
A350 fleets before expanding the service to its Boeing 787 aircraft. This
milestone also marks the world’s first and largest Starlink-equipped Airbus
A350 fleet, reinforcing Qatar Airways’ position as a pioneer in long-haul and ultra-long-haul
connectivity.
Named the World’s Best Airline by Skytrax in 2025 for the ninth time, Qatar Airways is also the first carrier to receive Starlink certification for the Boeing 787-8. Since launching the service in October 2024, more than 11 million passengers have enjoyed complimentary, gate-to-gate, ultra-high-speed Wi-Fi. Currently, over 58 percent of the airline’s widebody fleet offers connectivity speeds of up to 500 Mbps, enabling seamless streaming, video calls, and real-time productivity throughout the journey.
