Doha, Qatar: Attorney-General HE Dr. Issa bin Saad Al Jafali Al Nuaimi has ordered the arrest of a plastic and cosmetic surgeon and the director of a private medical centre, and their referral to the competent criminal court on charges related to illegal medical practice.

The Public Prosecution said investigations revealed that the surgeon continued to practise medicine at a private medical centre despite being officially suspended by the Ministry of Public Health, following multiple complaints over alleged medical errors. He was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department at the Ministry of Interior.

The medical centre’s director was also detained for allowing the suspended doctor to continue practising, despite being aware of the ban. Both defendants have been remanded in custody and will be tried under the Law Regulating the Practice of the Medical Profession.
