Doha: Prime
Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al
Thani received a call from Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic
of Iran HE Dr Abbas Araghchi. The call discussed efforts to achieve peace and
enhance security and stability in the region.
During the
conversation, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of all parties
engaging positively with ongoing mediation efforts. He highlighted that
dialogue and peaceful means are essential to address the root causes of the
crisis, reach a sustainable agreement, and prevent renewed escalation.
He also
underscored the need to open sea lanes, ensure freedom of navigation, and not
use them as a bargaining chip or pressure tactic. He warned that any disruption
could negatively impact countries in the region as well as global energy and
food supplies, with wider repercussions for international peace and security.
