Iran has announced that the Strait of Hormuz will remain completely open for commercial shipping during the ongoing ceasefire period. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that all vessels can safely pass through the vital waterway, in line with coordinated routes issued by the Ports and Maritime Organisation of Iran.
The
announcement comes amid easing regional tensions linked to the ceasefire in
Lebanon. Araghchi подчеркed that the move is aimed at ensuring uninterrupted
global trade and maritime stability during this period, allowing commercial
operations to continue without disruption.
US President
Donald Trump also confirmed the development on social media, stating that the
strait is “fully open and ready for full passage.” Following the announcement,
global oil markets reacted sharply, with crude prices dropping by around 10
percent, reflecting improved supply outlook and reduced geopolitical risk.
