Civil defence agency in Gaza reported on Saturday that an Israeli airstrike in the southern city of Khan Yunis resulted in the tragic deaths of nine children belonging to a married couple, both of whom are medical professionals. 

Mahmud Bassal, a spokesperson for the civil defence agency, confirmed that the bodies of the nine child martyrs were recovered from the home of Dr. Hamdi al-Najjar and Dr. Alaa al-Najjar. He noted that Dr. al-Najjar and another son Adam were also seriously injured in the strike on Friday.

In recent days, Israel has intensified its military operations in Gaza, which has drawn significant international criticism and calls for an increase in humanitarian aid, following a partial easing of the blockade that was implemented on March 2.
