US President Donald Trump said "the war is over" as he travels to Israel for the release of hostages from Gaza under the ceasefire deal agreed between Israel and Hamas.

Speaking aboard Air Force One, Trump expressed confidence that the ceasefire would hold and a "Board of Peace" would soon be established for Gaza, which he described as resembling a "demolition site."

He commended the efforts of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Qatar, one of the mediating parties. The deadline for Hamas to release all remaining hostages in Gaza is midday local time. Later on Monday, Trump is scheduled to visit Egypt for an international summit aimed at ending the conflict.
