US President Donald Trump announced that Israel and Hamas have agreed to the first phase of his Gaza peace deal. In a social media post, Trump stated, “ALL of the Hostages will be released very soon,” and noted that “Israel will withdraw their Troops to an agreed upon line.”

Hamas confirmed the deal but has not yet received the final list of prisoners that Israel plans to release in exchange, according to a Palestinian source speaking to the BBC. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hailed the agreement as “a great day for Israel” and plans to convene his government on Thursday to approve it.

A senior Palestinian official indicated that a ceasefire will go into effect immediately after approval by the Israeli government, expected around 14:00 Jerusalem time.
