Doha: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education has begun implementing the "Hodori" system in all government schools and school buses at the start of the 2026-2027 academic year, using palm recognition technology to track student attendance and departure.

The system follows a successful pilot phase in six government schools involving approximately 5,000 students. Students simply bring their palms close to a device, which recognises them and records their data securely and without physical contact. Devices have been distributed to all government schools and school buses.

The system's application varies by mode of transport. Students using private transportation register twice daily through devices at school: upon arrival and upon dismissal. Students using school buses are registered at four stages: boarding the bus in the morning, arriving at school, boarding the bus for the return trip, and arriving at their destination. Registration upon arrival serves as proof of attendance, while registration upon boarding the bus after school serves as proof of dismissal.

The Ministry stated that the system improves attendance tracking accuracy, enhances monitoring, reduces the administrative burden on school supervisors, and provides accurate data to support communication with parents, as part of its efforts to promote digital transformation and modernise the school environment.
