Doha: Karnataka Sangha Qatar, an associated organisation of the Indian Cultural Centre under the aegis of the Embassy of India, celebrated Engineer's Day with great fervour at Mumbai Hall, Indian Cultural Centre, Doha. The event paid tribute to the legendary visionary and Bharat Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya on his birth anniversary, under the theme "Saluting the Visionaries Who Build the Future."
The programme commenced with opening remarks by Mr. Prashant Hiremath, Media, PR and Benevolent Secretary, KSQ, setting an engaging and respectful tone for the evening. The gathering then paid tribute to Sir M. Visvesvaraya, accompanied by an insightful video presentation highlighting his remarkable contributions to engineering, infrastructure, and nation-building. Mr. Sujith Kumar Hosdurga, General Secretary, KSQ, delivered the welcome address, extending warm greetings to dignitaries, community leaders, guest speakers, and attendees.
The programme featured technical presentations by distinguished guest speakers Mr. Kishore V., Mr. Sridhar Rao, and Mr. Sudhir Akkathangerhal, who shared their knowledge and professional insights with the audience. In his presidential address, Mr. Subramanya Hebbagilu, President, KSQ, highlighted the pivotal role of engineers in shaping modern infrastructure and contributing to societal progress, emphasising the enduring impact of engineering innovations on community development.
A key highlight of the evening was the prestigious Abhiyantara Shree Awards ceremony. Mrs. Shubha Rao introduced the awardees and presented their professional profiles. Mr. Khalid Al-Sayed, Director of Engineers Without Borders – Qatar and Board Member of the Qatar Society of Engineers, was honoured with the Abhiyantara Shree Award and attended as Guest of Honour, delivering an insightful address. Mr. Vikrant Patil was also honoured with the award in recognition of his exemplary contributions to the engineering field. Chief Guest Mr. Harish Pandey, First Secretary (Education & Culture), Embassy of India, was felicitated and appreciated KSQ's initiatives in promoting technical knowledge and honouring iconic Indian personalities.
The event was attended by prominent community leaders including Mr. Deepak Shetty, General Secretary, ICBF; Mr. Sandeep Reddy, Karnataka Representative in the ICC Committee; KSQ Advisory Chairman Dr. Ravi Shetty; KSQ Advisors Mr. Arunkumar, Mr. V. S. Mannangi, Mr. H. K. Madhu, and Dr. Sanjay Kudari, along with representatives from ICC, ICBF, and various Karnataka-based community organisations in Qatar.
The programme concluded with a formal Vote of Thanks by KSQ Vice President Mr. Anil Bhasagi, who expressed gratitude to the Embassy of India, dignitaries, guest speakers, organisers, and community members for their support and participation. The memorable evening concluded with a commemorative group photograph, marking a meaningful celebration of engineering excellence, knowledge, and the enduring legacy of Sir M. Visvesvaraya.
