Doha: Jamaat-e-Islami Kerala President P. Mujeeb Rahman said the lack of a strong value system in social life is one of the major challenges facing society. He was speaking after inaugurating an activists’ gathering organised by the Center for Indian Community (CIC) in Doha.
Mujeeb Rahman said the concerns and challenges faced by minority communities in the country need serious attention. Referring to issues including amendments to the Waqf Act, the proposed Uniform Civil Code and the National Register of Citizens (NRC), he stressed the need to strengthen democratic institutions, the media and constitutional values.
He said democracy becomes more meaningful when it
is rooted in social justice, morality and respect for human rights. While the
security and empowerment of the Muslim community remain important, he
emphasised that the activities of Jamaat-e-Islami are intended to serve and
benefit all sections of society.
Mujeeb Rahman said the Islamic movement seeks to
bring about value-based change beginning with individual life and extending to
society as a whole. He called for greater efforts to promote ethical values and
social responsibility in public life.
Jamaat-e-Islami Kerala Secretary Shihab Pookottur explained the organisation’s empowerment initiatives in the educational, social and legal sectors across different parts of the country. He highlighted coordination among various organisations, initiatives for social harmony, legal interventions to protect civil rights and service programmes, including Vision 2026.
Solidarity Youth Movement leader C.T. Suhaib said
people should develop the strength to overcome life’s difficulties through
faith and should regularly evaluate their own actions. CIC President R.S. Abdul
Jaleel presided over the gathering, while K.T. Mubarak conducted the Quran
class. CIC General Secretary Arshad E, Women India President Naseema Teacher,
Youth Forum President Aslam Thouwfeeq, Naufal Paleri and Sidheque P.K. also
addressed the gathering.
As part of CIC’s two-month campaign titled 'The
Testimony of Islamic Representation', Jamaat-e-Islami Kerala Ameer P. Mujeeb
Rahman released a theme song composed by Thanima. Prizes were also presented to
participants who demonstrated outstanding involvement in the sermon campaign
and those who secured the highest number of new subscribers.
