Doha, Qatar: The
Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) has underscored the critical need for
safe and healthy work environments to protect employees and ensure the
uninterrupted delivery of healthcare services. The announcement marks the
World Day for Safety and Health at Work, observed annually on April 28, which
focuses on preventing occupational injuries and promoting overall employee
wellbeing.
In response to
regional developments, PHCC has adopted the theme "Ready and Safe"
for 2026, shifting its focus toward emergency preparedness. Dr. Maryam Al Muslemani, PHCC’s
Director of Occupational Health and Safety, noted that readiness is essential
in the healthcare sector. She highlighted the importance
of regular emergency response training, clear crisis communication, and easy
access to information to protect lives during critical incidents.
Beyond physical safety, the corporation is prioritizing psychological and social support as core pillars of its workplace culture. Dr. Al Muslemani emphasized that mental health resources, including confidential counseling and empathetic support systems, are vital for staff who may face high-stress situations. PHCC maintains that a safe working environment is a collective responsibility, requiring commitment across all organizational levels to sustain a resilient healthcare workforce.
