Jannik
Sinner defeated Carlos Alcaraz in straight sets to win the Monte Carlo Masters
for the first time, reclaiming the world No. 1 ranking. The Italian secured a
7-6 (5), 6-3 victory over the defending champion in a high-intensity final on
Sunday.
Sinner
showed resilience throughout the match, rallying from a 3-1 deficit in the
second set and handling challenging windy conditions with composure. The
24-year-old clinched the title on his first match point, marking his 27th
career title and his maiden Masters win on clay.
The victory further strengthens Sinner’s dominance this season, having already won Indian Wells and Miami, making him one of the few players to capture the first three Masters titles of the year. Despite the loss, Alcaraz praised his rival, as the “Sincaraz” rivalry continues to deliver thrilling battles at the highest level.
