Vance says no agreement between Iran and U.S. after 21 hours of talks
U.S.
Vice President J.D. Vance said early Sunday (April 12, 2026) that American
officials are leaving Pakistan without reaching an agreement with Iran,
following extended negotiations in Islamabad.
Mr.
Vance stated that the talks, which lasted over 21 hours, ended without a
breakthrough as both sides failed to narrow their differences despite intensive
discussions. He, however, appreciated the efforts of Shehbaz Sharif and Asim
Munir, describing them as “incredible hosts” for facilitating the dialogue.
Meanwhile, Iran also confirmed the outcome, with Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei stating that no deal was reached, though multiple exchanges and communications took place between the two sides during the negotiations.
