US President Donald Trump has welcomed the new defense agreement between Türkiye, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia. The trilateral pact, known as the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement, is seen as a crucial step towards enhanced security cooperation in the Middle East.
"Very happy to see that Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan have recently, and finally, signed the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement," Trump announced on his Truth Social platform.
He emphasized that the agreement signifies a coming together of Middle Eastern countries, positioning them better for self-defense. Trump lauded the agreement as a "BIG, BOLD, IMPORTANT FIRST STEP."
The historic agreement, signed in Mecca on August 7, comes amid rising regional tensions and the ongoing U.S.-Iran conflict, which has extended its impact across several Middle Eastern states.
